This Greenwood thing...
Isn't a bit weird that they are consulting everyone at the club about whether an employee who technically has done nothing should stay employed there?

Isn't this what you pay CEO's for? To make the big decisions instead of absolving yourself from blame by outsourcing it to staff?

The kids pay off is going to be astounding if they decide to let him go. I can't see how this process stands up in court at all.

(btw, this isn't about if he did or didn't do anything, I really dont know the truth here).

The recording alone is proof he’s a complete scumbag, but anything goes nowadays so expect him to be back in their team before you know it

Re: This Greenwood thing...
I don't how you could even suggest he's "technically has done nothing" if you've listened to the audio.

The only way he can come out of it innocent is if his partner said it was some rape role play they were doing. But then I'd question why she was secretly recording it.

You're part of the problem, 360, if you think he's done nothing wrong.

Great player, though.

They are first and foremost concerned about brand image and the damage that having him on there books let alone playing him will do.
Sponsorship deals, corporate partnerships blah blah.
He will probably be sent on loan to the far East or Turkey.
I can't see him ever turning out in the premier League again.

If it was Elanga or Fred or Phil Jones they would have been released and contract terminated last year

As its Greenwood and on form he is probaly a £50-100M player then they have to try and work out a way to try keep him and save the ££££

Shit outcome, I believe in second chances but struggle after hearing the recordings how he can represent a club as big as Man Utd again

It is absolutely about what he did and it’s clear for anyone with an ounce of sense what the situation.

Man Utd will want rid, but they know they won’t sell him and they know if they sack him they will have to pay off his contract and no doubt compensation as he could claim unfair dismissal.

I’d like to think they sack him and then fight him in court - but they won’t.

Can’t see any club taking him. Saudi club or far east maybe where they don’t care about woman anyway.

If he goes back into squad I hope the rest refuse to play with him.

Feel for Man United but they just have to take the hit - they can’t do anything else without a massive problem which in turn will hit them financially

As I said he has “technically” done nothing wrong. There is no crime legally. There is no victim even accusing him of doing anything either.

That’s why I’m curious about how you can let other employees decide this. This is for the CEO to decide and take it on the chin if he gets it wrong. He shouldn’t be saying, “other employees don’t like him” so we sacked him. Furthermore, do these employees even know the absolute details of the case.

My personal take is that if you are not in any danger but still go on to marry, have a baby with some one that raped you, well … either it didn’t happen or you don’t care about it, so why should I? Haven’t really got the time to pity people who don’t want or need pity.

1. according to the facts or exact meaning of something;
strictly.
"technically, a nut is a single-seeded fruit"

2. with reference to the technique displayed.

Yeah, technically he did something really wrong, in my eyes.

My best mates sun works as the chief football reporter on the Manchester Evening News, he told me a lot about this case

In summary Greenwood supports the girl and a load of her family financially so they never wanted to progress this in the courts for fear of losing money

“In my eyes”

And that’s my point. In your eyes is just an opinion with no factual or legal basis. And many people at that club will have that opinion too. But the club can’t really make a decision on the kids employment based on a non factual set of opinions can they?

I think he is deliberately canvassing opinions from employees to defend himself personally when the club get the lawsuit it’s likely to receive if they sack him.

They could end up paying him off for his whole career that has been lost. And honestly, he would have been the most expensive British player ever. He’s better than rashford and that guys on 350k+ a week?

The money involved, Man U probably better off keeping him and riding it out than paying astronomical compensation. Loan probably more likely.

Re: This Greenwood thing...
Sadly as usual the story here is that substantial amounts of money and the prospect of getting some always overrides morals and decency. Yes he wasn’t found guilty but I don’t think many people think he didn’t do it, or something similar.

As mentioned the entire reason they didn’t just sack him is that he’s really good at football. Being really good at something like football gives you privilege, protection and second lives that normal people don’t get. Were he shit they’d have washed their hands. Because he has a lot of value to them they are not. Just (allegedly) like the girl and her family too.

If he plays for them again, their fans might boo him but if he scores the winner in the FA cup final they’ll forget all that and be singing his name.

We as humans are all guilty of looking past things if there’s something in it for us. Sad really.

not sure I buy that either. What dad is going to know her daughter was raped and encourage her to put it to one side so they can get money from her rapist? It's not like she's from some dirt poor background either.

None of that makes sense.
Do journalists have actual evidence of Greenwood paying their families bills??

I just dont think it's entirely clear what has happened here. We may never know.

If MU sack him and he sues, the burden of proof will be the other way round, if believe. I don't fancy his chances with that.

" the burden of proof will be the other way round"

interesting... how do you mean?

Greenwood would have to prove he didn't rape his present girlfriend /wife and mother of his child?

He is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Technically Man U dismissing him for being a rapist is libellous as well as unlawful, as he is actually isn't (legally).

Ask OJ Simpson if you don't believe me. I think it works the same here.
